From making a booking to paying your deposit with Swuite, here we endeavour to answer the most commonly asked questions to give you a helping hand whilst reserving your student accommodation. However, please contact us if your question does not appear here and you need a more detailed response.

Making a Booking

Can I change my apartment?

If you wish to change your apartment our onsite management would be more than happy to help and will do their best to accommodate your request depending on availability.

Can I transfer my booking to a different Swuite development?

This is not possible as our other developments will have reached full capacity during the academic year.

How and when do I pay the Booking / Security Deposit fee?

Your deposit is paid at the time of application booking. The payment can be made by all major credit / debit cards on our website.

How do I book?

Booking your apartment studio is easy. The booking process has 4 simple steps and takes around 10 minutes to complete. You can book your stylish studio apartment here.

How much is the Booking / Security Deposit?

The deposit to reserve your studio is €500. This acts as booking confirmation fee until you have successfully received confirmation of accommodation when it then becomes your refundable security deposit. This is a fully refundable deposit once terms and conditions are complied with and on departure from Swuite Bohermore your room is left in good condition.

I am doing an internship / placement year or part-time course, am I allowed to live in Swuite Residences?
Yes, as long as you are still registered as a student and your placement is part of your degree/course then you can still live at Swuite Bohermore.

Is booking exclusive to students?

Yes, for the academic year, renting is exclusive to student’s or lecturers or overseas visitors to college / universities and all the apartments are designed specifically with students in mind.

Can I pay in full for the academic year on receipt of confirmation of accommodation?

Yes, you will be able to pay in full for the academic year, this will be payable by means of bank transfer and not via our website (which only takes deposits). You will be issued with a unique identifier number to use as a reference when making this transfer.

What happens if my instalment doesn’t get paid on time?

If you choose to pay by instalments then you will also have provided a guarantor. We require you still pay the licence fee on time and would ask your guarantor to assist with the licence fee.

What is your cancellation policy?

Should You cancel your booking within 24 hours of making a booking You will be refunded your Booking / Security Deposit in full.

Should You cancel your booking after 24 hours of booking but prior to the commencement of your Period of Residence You will be refunded your Booking / Security Deposit less an administrative charge of €50.

Students who do not officially cancel their booking will forfeit their entire deposit and the student will be held liable for any accommodations fees incurred, as the room cannot be given to another student while it is still held for the first student.

An official cancellation must be made by emailing info@swuite.com (cancellations by phone will not be accepted). A receipt of cancellation will be provided as confirmation via return email. If you do not receive a receipt please contact us immediately by telephone +353 (0)1 5413713 to ensure successful cancellation of your booking.

Who is eligible to book with Swuite?

Any person who is over 18 and who is a student enrolled within an educational institution can live at any of our Swuite Residences.

Living with Swuite

Are there fridges included in the apartments?

Yes, every studio apartment has its own fridge with freezer compartment.

Are there kitchen facilities in my apartment?

Yes, your studio apartment will include a microwave oven; hob; sink; fridge and storage space for your food.

Are there specific times of the day I can move in?

To make sure you have the best moving in experience possible we will send out different move in times, when it gets closer to the day / weekend when you can book your own move time.

Can I smoke in my room?

No. As per your Licence to Reside it is not permitted to smoke in any Swuite Residence. There are designated outdoor smoking areas which you are welcome to use.

Do I have to supply my own food?

Yes. There are an abundance of stores and supermarkets, butchers, vegetable shops around the city supplying food from around the world, there are also farmer’s markets and other food markets held regularly at locations around the city. You will also find some of the country’s best restaurants and cafes on your door step not to mention that NUIG has 16 restaurants / cafes on campus ranging from contemporary cafes and Fairtrade coffee / tea houses to an extensive food hall and café bar. There is something to suit all tastes here!

Do I have to bring any furniture?

All our apartments come with high quality furnishings that provide ample storage and comfort. We also provide an iron / ironing board for each studio apartment.

Do I need to bring my own saucepans, plates, cutlery etc.?

We provide a kitchen pack with cutlery, plates, cups, glasses and all the utensils you will need. We also include pot, pan, chopping board, sweeping brush and mop for each studio apartment.

How & where can I pick up my mail?

All mail will be delivered to reception and placed in individual studio apartment mailbox which will be assigned your unique number.

How safe is my room?

Your room is very safe, all door entry is by fob, all communal space has CCTV, on site staff are available 24 hours a day and there is security at night.

Is bedding included with the rent?

A mattress and mattress protector is provided. However, bedroom packs are available to purchase if required at a cost of €70 which will include 1 x duvet & duvet cover; 2 x pillows / pillow cases; pillow protectors; 1 x double sheet

Is insurance covered in my rent?

We provide fire, flood and other ancillary cover outside your studio apartment as well as Professional Indemnity cover. We can provide contents insurance for your studio apartment if required, please contact us to discuss.

Is there a common room?

One of the best things about living at Swuite Residences is the amazing communal spaces open for all residents to enjoy. Social and communal areas have been designed to encourage group activities and foster a sense of community. Group study, chill out areas, relaxation areas, games area, TV/Cinema area are among the common facilities available to all residents.

Is there a TV in my room?

Yes, every studio apartment is fitted with a flat screen TV. Swuite also purchase the TV licences so residents are not required to.

Is accommodation suitable for mature students?

Absolutely you can enjoy the privacy of your own studio without having to share a kitchen or bathroom but can enjoy the social aspect of living in a development with fantastic communal space.

What happens if there is a breakage or problem with my room?

You can log all maintenance issues via our ticketing system on our intranet. If you become a resident you will be given unique log in details and this will give you access to information about the building, health and safety documentation, ticketing system to report any issues. Issues can also be brought to the attention of our reception staff.

Where can I store my belongings over the summer?

We have no facility to store belongings over the summer period, all rooms will have to be cleared of all personal items and clothes on moving out day. However, there are self-storage facility companies in Galway and we would be happy to give you their contact details if you wish to use their services.

Will I get a cleaner?

There will be scheduled cleans of apartments throughout the academic year. We do this to ensure your room is kept in the very best condition throughout the year and minimise the damage. The housekeeping team will not however tidy your belongings or wash your dishes to respect your privacy. The housekeeping team will also clean all communal areas but again are not responsible for throwing away your rubbish so please be mindful and respect the building. All residents are responsible for the daily cleaning and upkeep of their studio apartment and common areas.

Getting to know Swuite

Can I view a studio?

Do I have to share my kitchen / bathroom?

No, all of our self-contained studios have ensuite bathrooms and kitchenette area within the apartment. There are communal student areas outside of your studio for you to enjoy whenever you need a break from your studies.

Do you allow couples to stay?

The studio apartments are for single occupancy only (apart from Twin Suites and our Deluxe One Bed Apartments) and this is reflected in the rent and utilities costs. Overnight guests however are allowed (but not for more than 1 consecutive night and note more than 1 guest per night).

I have special requirements for my living needs, can Swuite cater for these?

We are dedicated to ensuring all of our Swuite residents have an enjoyable and comfortable stay at all of our developments and will always do what we can to accommodate you. If you have any specific needs, please contact us on 091 753 781

Facilities

Can family and friends bring their cars when they come to visit?

Yes! There is adequate parking in the basement carpark and the various Universities and Colleges in the city. All our developments are in fantastic city centre locations that are close to the Universities and have great links to public transport. Our Bohermore Residence has approximately 57 car park spaces provided in the basement for residents of Swuite Bohermore. Residents are not guaranteed a parking space and must advise the management team of their parking requirement prior to arriving at the site. Parking is permitted in the spaces clearly marked for use by residents of Swuite Bohermore. The basement car park is serviced by one entry/exit ramp. Residents using the car park must not at any time obstruct the ramp. Misuse of the car park may result in resident parking privileges being withdrawn by management.

Where can I store my bike?

There are bicycle storage spaces provided in the basement of our residences. Students will be able to use one of the racks for the duration of their tenancy FREE OF CHARGE. Bicycle storage rack area is accessible via the basement and is monitored by CCTV.

Are there laundry facilities?

There are laundry facilities on the complex (located in the basement) for communal use by all residents. The laundry is equipped with washing machines and dryers. Entry to the laundry is controlled with the card access system and is monitored by CCTV. The laundry is coin operated so you need change to pay for your wash and dry.

Who should I contact if there is a problem with the internet?

You can either speak to one of the residence team on site on 091 753781 or 087 3526307 or log a maintenance ticket and our staff will assist.

Guarantors

What bills do I need to pay?

None, they are all included with residential fees. Utility charges cover essential services including water, internet, recycling and heating, TV Licence for each suite and registration with PRTB for each resident. They are a fixed charge for the year.
A reasonable allocation of electricity supply is provided for each studio apartment and independently monitored. Any excessive electricity usage will incur additional charges.

What is a guarantor?

You will need to name a guarantor when you make your booking if you select to pay by two instalments. This person will need to agree to be your guarantor and sign the Licence to Reside. A guarantor is someone over the age of 18 who takes joint financial responsibility for your stay and is liable to pay your rent if you are, for any reason, unable to pay an amount owed to Swuite.

We have the right to pursue this person for recovery of outstanding monies so it is important your guarantor understands their liability.

Who can be guarantor?

Anybody over the age of 18 and based internationally that does not live in a Swuite Residence can be guarantor for up to two instalment payments.

Who needs a guarantor?

All students selecting to pay by instalments require a guarantor.

The Park Shopping Centre is beside the DIT Campus on Prussia Street, with a Tesco, ATM, pharmacy, bakery/ deli, Post Office, Medical Centre, hairdresser / barbers, laundry / dry cleaners and a number of other small retail units. There is something to suit all tastes here!

We have only 2 studio apartments however so if you desire self-contained living you need to book quick! Please note however all of our bedrooms are single occupancy in all apartments apart from twin rooms.

You will have your own bedroom and ensuite bathroom for your sole use however all of our apartments (except for 2 no. studio apartments) have shared living / kitchen facilities.
There are communal student areas outside of your studio for you to enjoy whenever you need a break from your studies.

Do you allow couples to stay?

The apartments bedrooms are for single occupancy only (apart from our 2 Twin rooms which a couple can certainly share) and this is reflected in the rent and utilities costs. Overnight guests however are allowed (but not for more than 1 consecutive night and no more than one person).

I have special requirements for my living needs, can Swuite cater for these?

Facilities

There are secure bicycle storage spaces provided in the basement of our residence. Students will be able to use one of the secure racks for the duration of their tenancy FREE OF CHARGE. Bicycle storage rack area is accessible through the use of a secure door entry system and is monitored by CCTV.

Are there laundry facilities?

There are laundry facilities on the complex (located in the basement) for communal use by all residents. The laundry is equipped with washing machines and dryers. Entry to the laundry is controlled with the card access system and is monitored by CCTV. The laundry is coin operated so you need change to pay for your wash and dry.
