Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a day where we take time to celebrate our mammy’s and all they have done for us. We’ve compiled a list of the wisest and funniest sayings handed down to us, the Swuite Team in Dublin, from our mammy’s over the years.

“Shut your mouth and eat your dinner.”

We are unsure how this works.

“If you fall and break your legs, don’t come running to me.”

We think this one is pretty self-explanatory.

“If you don’t stop crying, I’ll give you something to cry about.”

This is along the same lines as the one above!

“There’s great drying out.”

When the sun shines or the wind blows, you best get all your washing done. This is because it rains a lot in Ireland.

“Don’t go outside with wet hair or you’ll get sick.”

We’re not sure if this is true or not, because we always dry our hair before we go out.

“Take off your coat inside or it’ll be of no use to you when you go outside.”

This one is definitely true because mammy’s in other countries also use this one.

“I have eyes in the back of my head.”

Irish mammies always know what you’re up to.

“There’s no point crying over spilt milk.”

A great piece of advice that ensures you don’t get upset by the little things!

As we think of our Swuite staff and students as one big extended family, you may hear some of these from time to time. We also encourage everyone to share their mammy’s words of wisdom and sayings with us, or post a photo of you and your mammy below!
